“Anticorruption Education

November, 25 2009

Representatives of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption and 7 NGOs from the Anticorruption Alliance came with the idea to introduce the subject Anticorruption Education in the school curriculum.

During the work meeting of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes the idea to implement school curriculum starting in the fall next year with a new object that will be educating students in fighting against corruption occurred. Center representatives and the Alliance Fighting Against Corruption said such a subject in schools is mandatory because the population is less informed about this phenomenon.

Vasile Spinel, President of Info Access Center "Education about this matter should begin in kindergarten, school, family. It is already late to work with the grown ups."

While high school pupils say they would like to study this subject, teachers say they do not need it because the young generation is quite informed at the given chaapter.

Natalia Griu, professor of Romanian language "Obviously that is aberrant to introduce such an object taking into account the practice that the curriculum is overloaded and we must try to reduce the number of hours. The young generation should not be taught on issue because the know it and have attitude. "

Anastasia Vasilache, student “ the idea is very good and there are some attempts at Civic Education classes to discuss the matter, but I think it would be better to have a separated object. "

Indiana Hanganu, sudent "Implementation of this objective in education is something very beneficial for us."

Sandu Ghenciu, student " I feel sad to be graduate this year, since I would be interested to study more about this phenomenon which is very often met in our society. "

Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption will come with this initiative before the Ministry of Education to determine what themes will be included into the subject of education in fighting against corruption and what class category will study this section.
