UN experts in Women's Rights got familiar with the US experience of our OW Alumnus 2011 Ion Oboroceanu in Căușeni

On May 24th 2012 the UN experts in Women’s Rights, Kamala Chandrakirana and  Eleonora Zielinsca, visited Căușeni.

The goal of the visit was to collect information about existing best practices in the field of assistance and protection of victim of domestic violence and other forms of discrimination against women. UN representatives were informed that Moldova has a good legislation for efficiently protect the rights of all groups of people, yet in practice the situation is different. There are a lot of cases of discrimination against women and the local authorities and other service providers for women fail to assist and protect the victims of discrimination. In this context, the UN experts were familiarized with the experience and best practices learned and seen through Open World Program, practices which were successfully implemented by the Căușeni Prosecutor, and replicated by the colleagues in other regions of the country.

Mr Oboroceanu emphasized that the American colleagues which are working in the field of anti-trafficking and anti-violence they successfully implement the international standards, also they have sufficient financial and material possibilities to work in mixed teams of intervention and investigation, with good results, so necessary for Moldova’s beneficiaries.
