Victoria Cujba, OW 2012 alumna awarded Honorary Alumna of the month of May by American Councils Moldova office


Upon her return to Moldova, Mrs Cujbă as been paying special attention to the implementation of democratic values and principles learned in US as part of the Open World Program. She has been promoting a more active involvement of local public authorities, as well as public servants and citizens in the decision making process. She has initiated and monitored over 60 projects on consolidating durable development of local communities, city halls and elected councils as part of the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme. Key results: the establishment of an extended cooperation platform between the Government, local public administration, civil society and development partners on ensuring local self-government and decentralization can be highlighted, that is an essential factor for the successful implementation of the decentralization reform. The Program included as strategic partners Government and Parliament officials, representatives from Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions, NGO sector, local government, academia and international organizations
Mrs Cujbă has been coordinating the vocational training programs aiming at the decentralization for local and central public authorities of the Republic of Moldova within the Academy of Public Administration with the participation of the International Institute of Management at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Mrs Vujbă participated in the development of Local Public Servant Guide which approached such issues as decentralization and human rights, she contributed to the deployment of the first National Conference on cross-community cooperation, conducted "The decentralization reform: from Strategy to Action" Conference and worked with Council of Europe experts within the Committee on Local and Regional Democracy, Strasbourg, France, as an expert representing Republic of Moldova.
