EFL Logistic Assistant

POSITION Summary

The American Language Center, a subsidiary of American Councils for International Education, seeks three individuals with a background in education to work as Logistic Assistants for the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) English as a Foreign Language Summer Program. The FLEX EFL Program is a one-month intensive English course for physically challenged high school students from all over Eurasia, who are finalists for the FLEX program.

 

If chosen, the candidates will be required to participate in mandatory training sessions during the month of June.  The Logistic Assistants will work to assist in arranging logistics, materials preparation, planning and organizing afternoon and weekend activities, and addressing additional needs of program participants, instructors and staff.

 

POSITION TIMELINE

  • Part-time beginning May 1 through June 22, and;
  • Full-time from June 22 to July 23;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the ALC Director and EFL Coordinator with program planning and development;
  • Assist the Coordinator to provide students, faculty, and guest speakers with resources and materials for planning and course development;
  • Support the ALC Director and EFL Coordinator to develop and conduct afternoon and weekend activities for program participants;
  • Work with Alumni and Peace Corps Volunteers conducting afternoon program activities such as classes, debates, conferences, informal gatherings;
  • Translate program materials and serve as a Interpreter if needed;
  • Purchase, prepare, and compile program materials as requested by the Coordinator and teachers;
  • Research and assemble information on program costs to be provided to the ALC Director;
  • Gather and organize participant and teacher evaluations for analysis by the Coordinator;
  • Additional tasks as required;
  • Housing and meals will be provided for the duration of the program;

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University student currently studying a foreign language, education, or related field;
  • Computer literacy for MS Office;
  • Proficiency in English, Romanian and/or Russian;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Self motivated (able to work with little supervision)
