First Impressions of Professional Fellows Program by Lidia Carchilan

October, 19 2016

The first day was an introduction in exchange programs, we discussed the importance and role of building bridges between states and the power of cooperation. Then Sam Potolicchio gave a lecture on how to improve our focusing skills and expand our intellectual capacities involving some exercises. Then, we had the American Councils team introduce us to the American culture and gave useful advice on how to get more out of our fellowship.

On the second day, we worked in groups under the advisory of American Councils team and shared our professional and personal expectations, as well as the main accomplishment we hope to achieve through this program. Furthermore, we had a lecture on American history and diversity development. We also had the pleasure of visiting the U.S. Capitol and the Library of Congress, which enhanced our understanding of the legislative process in the United States.

Finally, on the third day our host parents came to take us to their homes, which is designed to compliment the professional exchange we'll get out of the worksite placements with some personal interactions.

More impressions to come next week.
