Volunteer experience….

I had the chance to help out with the English/Citizenship class at CARECEN (Central American Resource Center).

The Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) is a community based organization that seeks to foster the comprehensive development of the Latino community in the Washington metropolitan region.

CARECEN assists those eligible for naturalization with preparing their application and prepares candidates to take the U.S. naturalization examination by offering civics and civics-focused ESL classes, individual tutoring, mock citizenship interviews and any other support needed to successfully complete the process and become a U.S. Citizen.

The program also promotes community participation in local civic and democratic action through organizing, advocacy and training for community members, targeted media efforts to increase citizen education, election and voting forums, and voter registration campaigns.

Components of the program include:
1. Citizenship Info Sessions and Workshops
2. Citizenship Classes
3. English Classes
4. Computer Lab
5. Tutoring
6. Interview preparations
7. Citizenship Oath Ceremony and Voter Registration

PFP is a very successful program for those who really want to succeed in this life!!!!!
