ACCESS celebration of Thanksgiving Day

November, 23 2017

On the 23rd of November, Access students had the chance to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.

"Thanksgiving is the time when each of us should think what is he thankful for and express his gratitude to people he loves. First of all, I am thankful to my family and friends, they are the most important thing in my life and I can't imagine myself without them. I am thankful for their unconditioned love, care, and support and I am the luckiest person on the earth knowing that they are by my side. I am thankful to my American family because they gave me a home away from home and became for me ones of the most important people. I love all of them so, so much.❤️❤️Thank you for understanding me and being with me when I need them the most!
Also, I am thankful to the people who helped me become who I am now. This is why I am super thankful for ACCESS program! ACCESS program gave me the chance to become a better version of myself, teaching me not just English, but also how to become a successful person. ACCESS program gave me the chance to meet so many amazing people: teachers, teacher assistants, students, all of them became an important part of my life.
Thank you to all of them for being with me and I wish them all the best!❤️", said Romana Zmeu, Access Assistant in Soroca.

"Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year because it reminds us to give thanks and to count our blessings. First of all, I want to thank my parents for everything they've done for me, for every moment I've spent surrounded by love. They give me the power to be who I am and for this, I am more than grateful.

I want to say "thank you" to my friends because they always support me, help me and accept me as I am.

Access program helps me to discover myself. It is a so great chance to change something in my life, to meet new people, to get unforgettable experience, to become a better person. So, thank you, Access, for all doors that you open in my way.

Also, I want to thank my Access teachers. You are the best examples for me to follow!

And the last, but not the least, I want to thank my students for their creative and innovative ideas and for their involvement in all the activities I propose them.

"We must find the time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives." John F. Kennedy", quoted Muna Dabas, Access Assistant Bender.

Access students from Bender watched a presentation about this holiday, listened to a song, found out about American traditions. The students told us the things they're thankful for. They had tongue twister contests. The students were divided into groups - each one had a name, a presentation, and emblems. Coloring a turkey contest, Q&A's about Thanksgiving history, lots of fun games. Postcards contests, where students had the opportunity to get diplomas for that.

On the Thanksgiving Day, Access team from Soroca invited Erica (Fulbright teacher) and together they had a great informative lesson about this holiday. Erica told them about American customs, watched a short cartoon about the history of this wonderful holiday, they listened to songs and danced.

"Erica is a very friendly person. I liked the activities and the material prepared by her. It was a special and exciting lesson. I learned many new and interesting things about Thanksgiving traditions. I would like to have more lessons like that!"- Virginia Cernopolc, Access Student Soroca.

"Erica is a very nice person, what brought us to know many new things about USA traditions. I liked her enthusiasm, her storytelling skills when she told us about Thanksgiving Day. My favorite part was about food, the traditional food specific for Thanksgiving day. She was very explicit and she managed to create the real atmosphere of celebration." -Mihaela Țaulean, Access Student Soroca.

"I liked a lot that lesson with Erika. She is a very positive person and she made for us a real American holiday. It was so funny and we laughed a lot. I learned new things about Thanksgiving Day and I understood that it is very important to be grateful for what we have." -Roxana Guțu, Access Student Soroca.

Access Vulcanesti organized a contest of the best poster on Thanksgiving day, the best team got presents and certificates.
