This year the spirit of a "spooktacular" Halloween was celebrated by students in Bender and Ungheni. Most of them didn't celebrate this holiday before, it was a great opportunity to experience an important part of the culture of the English speaking world and get acquainted with American Civilization.
Students learned about the history of this holiday and how it extended to other countries and started being celebrated all over the world. They enriched their Halloween vocabularies, read scary stories, watched videos about how the holiday is celebrated in the USA.
In Ungheni, students with their teacher and assistant organized a charity party together with another youth organization from Ungheni - "Fondul pentru Tineri" and all the donations were sent to a local orphanage. In this way, students not only celebrated Halloween but also helped other children in need.
Bender's students had the chance to wore scary, yet funny costumes and asking each other "Trick or Treat?". Of course, they had decorated their classroom with specific elements for this holiday like bats, witches, black cats, and pumpkins.
"It is the first time I celebrate Halloween, I have seen it only in movies and I was always excited about this American holiday. I would like to thank Mrs. Nadejda and Muna for this unique and "scary" lesson", said Botnaru Cristina, ACCESS Student in Bender.
Students appreciated the fun that they have had and the new things that they have learned about this holiday.
