Access Microscholarship Program Celebrating the 16th Anniversary of American Councils Moldova

September, 26 2014

On September 26, American Councils Moldova celebrated 16 years of commitment to International Education. This special occasion was marked with an Open House event, during which anyone interested in the life of American Councils Moldova could have come to see it from the inside. Access Microscholarship Program Moldova, as part of American Councils, also actively participated at this event.

Since Access is a program that intensively makes use of online tools in teaching English, the coordinator, Olga Morozan, offered a workshop for uiniversity and school EFL teachers   on  "Using Online Tools to Enhance EFL Students' Writing Skills", based on the Access Program case study.

A very special part of the event was to invite 12 most active Access Alumni-2014 to join the celebration.   They received certificates of excellence for their active involvement and personal contribution to the Access Moldova Community development. Also, they discussed about their plans and projects they would like to work on in future in order to contribute to their community development.

Moreover, they had the opportunity to find out more about studying abroad, namely about the possibility to apply for scholarships at the American University in Bulgaria. This presentation was of a great use for our alumni since they are at the very important period of their lives when they have to make a crucial decision regarding their further studies.  Afterwards, they had a lot of fun playing board games together with FLEX Alumni. Also, some of the Access Alumni participated at a very original and interesting workshop about fashion organized by the coordinators of “Career for Me” project.

In addition to this, at the local level almost 180 Access students organized series of entertaining activities aimed at promoting education in their local communities. This way, teenagers from Ribnita, Ialoveni, Hincesti, Straseni, Bender, Orhei, and Causeni made funny book marks, and colorful friendship handmade bracelets  for the children from orphanages or economically disadvantages families as symbols of education, cooperation, creativity and mutual support.

Hopefully this event helped in making all the students who were involved in it understand the importance of education and in discovering that there are many opportunities that they have to take in order to develop themselves and become better citizens of our society.
